The only good quality free software you'll find is in the form of demos.

There are several great racing demos out there that include a few tracks and cars/bikes to try out.

my top picks would be:

Colin Mcrae Rally 2
Nascar Racing 4
Rally Championship
Motocross Madness 2
Need for Speed 4
Leadfoot
Powerslide
Toca Touring Cars 2
Swedish Touring Car Championship 2
GP 500

You can download all of the above demos from The Adrenaline Vault

no problem dude. Glad I could help :)

You will love Colin Mcrae 2 if you havent seen it already. I am 100% addicted to that game.

Have you got yourself a steering wheel? Since getting mine I cant play racing games any other way. I've got the Logitech Force Feedback model and it rocks!!  :D 8) ;D

No idea if they have demos available or not, but a couple of games not mentioned yet are:

Need for Speed 5 (Porsche Unleashed) - this is just awesome, we play it in a lan all the time.

Insane
Revolt - this may be too arcade-like for some, its racing little remote control type cars around

I have a Logitech wheel as well (not force feedback) and its great.

All of the above games have great demos available.

You can download them from Avualt as usual.

Was into Revolt and Porsche Unleashed for ages. Both very cool games.

Just dont try playing Revolt with a steering wheel...just too hard. Keyboard seems to work better.  Which figures, its not really a driving game as such, like I said, its an arcade game.  But great fun!

That's exactly what I found :) Definetly a game that requires quick sharp turning as apposed to smooth turns with a steering wheel.
